Ray became a member of "The Free Readers Ensemble" in their 1999-2000 season.
A classically trained singer, Ray has been performing in the Chicago-land area for the past 10 years, including appearances with Lyric Opera of Chicago Chorus, Dupage Opera Theatre and The Opera Factory. He was also a member and soloist with Windy City Performing Arts for four seasons. The tenor also enjoys singing in several churches and synagogues in the area.
He received his Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, where he performed principal roles with Illinois Opera Theater and Opera Theater of Springfield. Ray has also performed with The Sarasota Opera and Seattle Opera, and was an Artist in Residence with The Portland Opera.
“By day”, Ray is a Resource/Policy Analyst at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a certified Mac Technician.
