by Frederick Knott
A deadly game is set into motion when Susy Hendrix's husband unknowingly transports a doll filled with heroin. But a murder reveals the doll's owner, the ruthless Harry Roat, who will stop at nothing to get it back. With her husband away, the recently blinded Susy is left terrifyingly alone. Roat and his two ex-convict partners descend on her apartment, weaving a vicious deception to get the doll back.
As the con unravels and Roat's violence escalates, Susy realizes her blindness might be the key to her escape. In a deadly game of cat and mouse, she must use her wits and the cover of darkness to outsmart her tormentors, leading to a chilling, breath-stopping conclusion where the advantage is finally hers.
See the play that was the basis for the 1967 movie of the same name starring Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin.
